Summer semester 2026 - limited to 6 months
In modern industrial environments separate industrial PCs (IPCs) are often used for different applications. This leads to higher hardware costs increased space requirements and a more complex system architecture. One of the main challenges lies in meeting the high demands for robustness and reliability of embedded systems. The goal of this project is to develop a scalable and efficient concept for a multi-application host platform that can reliably run multiple applications on a single IPC. This includes benchmarking designing potential system architectures and implementing a proof of concept for the most promising solution.
YOUR TASKS:- Conduct a benchmarking analysis of three existing IPC applications including resource usage (CPU RAM storage etc.)
- Develop 23 concepts for efficiently running multiple applications on a single IPC from deployment to patching
- Evaluate the concepts in terms of technical feasibility and economic efficiency
- Implement a proof of concept for the most suitable concept
YOUR PROFILE:- Enrolled in a degree program in (Business) Computer Science Embedded Systems Computer Engineering or a comparable field of study
- Basic knowledge of Windows (ideally Windows IoT) and Linux
- Strong interest in embedded systems virtualization and system architectures
- Analytical mindset and ability to assess technical solutions from a business perspective
- Independent structured and solution-oriented way of working
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
