About the Role
As a TAFE Sessional Teacher in the Business & Legal Programs you will be responsible for delivering high-quality industry-relevant education and training to students enrolled in the Certificate IV in Legal Services Paralegal Services Skill Set and Diploma of Paralegal Services.
You will be expected to develop and deliver engaging and innovative learning materials assess student performance and provide feedback and support to ensure student success. Our students come from diverse backgrounds including court registrars school-leavers mid-career professionals and those seeking pathways into law degrees.
You will support a positive and respectful learning environment help students develop skills for legal work contribute to course improvement and ensure accurate course and student records are maintained.
About You
We are looking for an individual who is enthusiastic about legal education and committed to teaching the next generation of legal and business professionals.
You must hold:
Recent and relevant industry experience in legal paralegal payroll or accounting practice
TAE40116 or TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or TAE40110 with upgrade units TAELLN411 and TAEASS502 or can provide proof of enrolment in TAE40122 or upgrade or be willing to obtain one
For lawyers admission and practicing in Victoria for at least 2 years with some experience of law firm practice and attending magistrates courts and tribunals.
For conveyancers license and registration in Victoria with at least 2 years experience in PEXA leases sales of business advising on contracts of sale of land and completing vendor/purchaser settlement
For senior law clerks at least 2 years experience having worked with barristers/counsel and solicitors in preparing matters for hearing and trial and law-firm office administration experience
For Paralegals 5 years experience in the field
Strong legal research and law practice knowledge
Good knowledge of current issues in state and federal law
Current police check valid within 6 months or willingness to obtain one
Current Working with Children Check or willingness to obtain one
Salary and Conditions of Employment
For the sessional teaching roles the hourly teaching rate payable is $95.01 per hour inclusive of 25% sessional loading plus superannuation.
Conditions of employment will be covered by Victoria Universitys Vocational Teacher Enterprise Agreement 2025.
