Job Summary/Purpose

The Supervisor Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) Pilot manages the day-to-day operations of routine and comprehensive UAS patrols and data collection analysis. This includes assisting with fast response outage and post-storm inspections. The Supervisor will also assist the UAS Manager in the planning and scheduling of UAS primary responsibility of this role is to manage all flights collateral duties and assigned crew duties - including Remote Pilot in Command Visual Observer and Sensor Operator - associated with the operation of UAS/UA/Drones for company asset inspection within their assigned area of addition to the duties above the Supervisor UAS will ensure coordination of safe operations among all aircraft operating by or on behalf of the Company.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Supervise the day-to-day operations of Unmanned Aerial System Pilots assigned to their area of operation.
  • When needed safely and securely pilot Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) act as and adhere to the duties and responsibilities of a Remote Pilot in Command (RPIC) Visual Observer (VO) or Sensor Operator (SO) in accordance with federal state and local laws as well as company policy.
  • When needed manage process and analyze data collected via UAS and other sensor collection platforms and perform data quality assurance tasks to ensure accurate data is used in reports databases and file structures. Provides complete and accurate data sets to requesting entity.
  • When needed Performs pre-mission planning flight notifications automation planning pre-job briefings pre-flight and post-flight inspections before and after each flight respectively risk assessments debriefings and post-mission reporting in accordance with the Unmanned Aerial System Operations Manual (UASOM).
  • Ensures operational status of UAS equipment by conducting pre- and post-flight inspections and conducting routine maintenance inspections and repairs on UAS equipment.
  • Become an integral part of Entergy Aviations Safety Culture by participating in the Entergy Aviation Safety Management System to include UAS specific incident/accident reporting.
  • Complete collateral duties as assigned and company administrative requirements in timely and professional manner.
  • Completes time and attendance reporting for direct reports
  • Plans and updates schedules for direct reports to maximize efficiency and reduce/eliminate unnecessary overtime
  • Supervise and execute performance management process for employees
  • Trains coaches mentors and recognizes achievements of staff
  • Communicate effectively with clients team members and stakeholders and present UAS inspection findings in clear and concise format.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum education required of the position

  • Associates Degree in Surveying Engineering Technology or a related field of study and four years of experience in UAS data collection management analysis. Advanced degree is lieu of degree 6 years of work experience in related field of study.

Minimum experience required of the position

  • 6 years of flight experience as a Part 107 Commercial Drone Pilot and 300 hours of verifiable experience in Commercial UAS Operations.

Minimum knowledge skills and abilities required of the position

  • Demonstrated strong working knowledge of unmanned aerial systems and operating requirements. Demonstrated strong knowledge of the Federal regulations and standards relating to unmanned aircraft commercial flight operations. Familiarity with traditional photogrammetry and advanced photography knowledge. Understanding or experience with LiDAR and general remote sensing. Demonstrated knowledge of computer office skills in flight planning scheduling Microsoft tools and expensing software.


Certificates licenses etc. required of the position

  • FAA Part 107 License
  • FAA Part 107 License be able to obtain and hold a State issued Drivers License with a GVW of 26000lbs.
  • DOT medical certificate and maintain that certification
  • Experience certificates licenses etc. Preferred for the position
  • Electrical and Gas Infrastructure experience. 2 years of experience with LiDAR remote sensing and traditional photogrammetry
