Exciting opportunity to lead and drive the public and government affairs agenda for Biopharmachem Ireland (BPCI). The role is central to developing and shaping BPCIs external engagement with Political Government and EU stakeholders to promote the BioPharmaChem sector and industry priorities.
Working closely with the Director and Deputy Director of BPCI and BPCI members this position also holds responsibility for the development and efficient coordination of key working groups and committees to ensure critical sector topics are addressed. The role will ensure the key objectives of BPCI are met by addressing the sectors key industry priorities.
The closing date for applications will be the 27th November.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Public & Government Affairs
- Develop and implement a comprehensive public affairs strategy aligned with BioPharmaChem Ireland strategic goals.
- Map and foster relationships with key political stakeholdersregulatory bodies and EU Institutions.
- Representation activities on behalf of member companies on general issues including health sustainability/Environmental/Competitiveness/Innovation and Skills.
- Working with members and key stakeholders to draft position papers and efficiently communicate.
- Preparation of business analysis and publications and member updates.
- Develop contacts and build relationships with policymakers and regulators in all relevant Government departments and state agencies.
- Liaison with relevant European sectoral associations.
- Communication with member companies on a range of policy issues.
Working Group Development & Coordination
- In addition to the coordination of Public Affairs working group the candidate will be invited to coordinate key technical working groups and committees ensuring meetings are held regularly key topics are addressed and appropriate minutes are prepared and agreed actions plans are implemented.
- Develop and maintain a strategic work plan (including milestones and timelines) for each active working group ensuring activities align with BPCIs overall sector priorities.
- Ensure that content produced by the working groups (e.g. technical input) is efficiently translated into the high-level position papers and public affairs collateral required for external advocacy.
- Be an active member of the overall BPCI Team ensuring the objectives of the sector are met.
- Carry out other duties as identified and agreed with the Director and Deputy Director of BPCI that are in keeping with the overall purpose of the position.

Qualifications skills and experience
Qualifications
- Primary degree ideally in business economics or public policy
- Relevant post graduate qualifications an advantage
Knowledge
- Knowledge of the Biopharma sector and challenges facing the sector in Ireland EU and globally.
- Knowledge of the Irish European and international political system.
- Understanding of the interaction between national and international policy.
- Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Irish media environment.
- Role of national and EU government and agencies in policy making and regulation
Experience
- At least 5 years of proven experiencewith advocacy and communications including direct interaction with government and regulators.
- Strong experience working in a team environment.
- Experience of working with committees/working groups and operating at a high level
- Experience in managing meetings providing communications (including presentations) and ensuring clear communication and documentation.
- Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the Irish media environment.
- Experience of multi-stakeholder engagements
Competencies
- Ability to communicate succinctly and utilise a range of communication methods as appropriate.
- Excellent report writing and analytical skills.
- Ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders and manage the complexities involved.
