The Opportunity:
Reporting into the Alliance Safety Manager the Senior Safety Advisor must have the ability to work independently as this role will see you positioned as the Site Safety Lead for health and safety systems at the Project Site identifying hazards and assess risks to health and safety. Working closely with the project manager and construction team recommending appropriate safety controls and leading incident prevention and occupational health to management and employees.
Key accountabilities:
Responsible for Implementing the Occupational Health and Safety strategies systems and initiatives across the project/package.
Monitors and reports on project health and safety performance including completing inspections and observations.
Ensure the compliance of Safety Management Systems including maintaining a robust risk management process at site.
Report works health and safety hazards incidents and injuries including leading investigation.
Identify review and analyse high risk activities in conjunction with the appropriate personnel and recommends approach to be taken.
Actively ensure that subcontractors and suppliers are complying with legislative requirements.
Assess high risk activities lead risk assessments and in conjunction with the appropriate personnel recommend the approach to be taken.
Support the effectiveness of the consultative framework and communicate safety matters to management and staff as appropriate including leading site Safety meetings
Required Skills and Competencies
- Certificate IV in Health and Safety
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role (Construction or Rail)
- Demonstrated extensive experience in leading safety and compliance
- Experience in implementing and monitoring Safety management systems.
- A comprehensive knowledge of Victorian OHS legislation
- Knowledge of incident investigation and reporting requirements
- Fluent in the Microsoft Office suite of desktop applications and related software packages
