DescriptionThe Infection Preventionist 1 is responsible for the surveillance analysis and reporting of hospital-associated infections. Develops and participates in infection prevention education and identifies and initiates isolation protocols. Works closely with Infection Prevention team with implementation and monitoring of compliance with any new practices aimed at reducing the risk of acquiring healthcare associated infections and works collaboratively with the Employee Health program to ensure the health of all team members.
Responsibilities- Data Analysis & Reporting 25%
- Utilizes CDC/NHSN guidelines and definitions of healthcare acquired infections.
- Collection and analysis of infection data
- Development of reports and graphs presentation at appropriate committees.
- Education & Training Staff 25%
- Provides education to patients team members visitors families physicians and community regarding infection prevention practices to improve.
- Participates in development of educational programs patient safety and preventing/reducing infections risks.
- Presents infection prevention material at hospital orientation unit-based meetings and annual education fairs.
- Assists Employee Health as needed.
- Policies and Procedures 25%
- Reviews and researches policies and procedures annually to ensure current evidence-based practices are utilized.
- Participates with the education of staff for any changes in procedures or policies aimed at preventing infection.
Implement any new policies and procedures with collaboration from nursing leadership.
- Compliance & Regulatory 20%
- Informs the appropriate organizations of any reportable diseases.
- Acts as a liaison with hospital and medical staff patients and families.
- Other Duties as Assigned 5%
- Evaluation of products and procedures aimed at improving patient care and/or reducing infections.
Serves as active committee member on specific hospital committees.
QualificationsExperience: 2 years clinical experience.
Education: Bachelors Degree in a relevant field. Medicine (Doctor) Nursing Public Health Biology Epidemiology or Laboratory Medical Technology.
