The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) Northern Region Highways and Aviation is looking for an Equipment Operator Lead Journey 3 in KOTZEBUE to help us

Keep Alaska Moving!

• Maintain airports highways seaplane floats bridges and docks in safe operable condition complying with FHWA FAA TSA and State regulations.
• Operate heavy equipment for airport and highway tasks including snow and ice control blading pavement repair sweeping lighting signage and fencing.
• Perform Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) duties including training certification equipment maintenance and emergency response support.
• Conduct runway inspections friction measurements wildlife management and issue NOTAMs to ensure FAA Part 139 compliance.
• Carry out airport security duties including inspections of movement areas SIDA fences and gates.

Special Note:

ARFF training including a comprehensive 40-hour course medical evaluation and fit testing for self-contained breathing apparatus will be provided on the job.

COMMERCIAL DRIVERS LICENSE REQUIRED
This position requires the incumbent to possess a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) per federal regulations (49 CFR 383) to register with the federal CDL Drug & Alcohol Testing Clearinghouse prior to performing safety-sensitive duties and to provide consent to the Employer to review driver information in accordance with 49 CFR 382.

A Class A Alaska Commercial Drivers License (CDL) is required at time of hire.A conditional hire approval can be given to applicants that do not yet possess the required endorsement. This means that the proposed appointee must successfully obtain theN Tanker endorsement within 90 days of hire and sign an agreement to this effect as a condition of employment.

DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION & PUBLIC FACILITIES DRUG AND ALCOHOL POLICY

Selected candidates must comply with the DOT&PF Drug and Alcohol Policy and procedures and CANNOT start work in a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) position until Management Services or designee has received confirmation of the proposed appointee passing the required Pre-Employment drug test. According to federal regulations all violations and refusals will be maintained with the Federal CDL Drug & Alcohol Testing Clearinghouse database.

ARMS & AMMUNITION REQUIREMENT

This position requires the use of firearm or ammunition.
