WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

As an Administrative Assistant 1 you will perform a wide range of technical and administrative duties in support of the Alaska State Troopers C Detachment position provides support to the detachment command staff as well as personnel from 14 rural trooper posts in the areas of payroll procurement finance human resources case management and judicial this position you will learn a variety of skills and a broad working knowledge of the Division of Alaska State Troopers that will prepare you for many promotional opportunities.

THE WORKING CONDITIONS YOU CAN EXPECT:


This position is assigned to C Detachment Alpha Site located in a secure building at 5848 E Tudor Road in Anchorage. The office is spacious and the work environment is friendly supportive team oriented and productive. This position requires travel to rural locations to provide employee training and temporary administrative coverage on an as needed basis.

  • Strong written verbal and detail-oriented communication skills with the ability to communicate complex information.

  • Attention to detail while working under pressure in a fast-paced environment to ensure accurate data entry into multiple systems reviewing documents processing and routing paperwork and handling payments.

  • Experience and skill with Microsoft Office applications especially Excel Word and Outlook.

  • Time management skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities from several sources while working independently with minimal supervision.

Six months of advanced clerical experience. This experience includes work such as Office Assistant 2 Accounting Clerk and similar classes with the State of Alaska or the equivalent with another employer.

OR
Six months of any combination of post-secondary education vocational education and/or advanced-level clerical experience. (Three semester or four quarter hours of post-secondary education are equal to one month of experience; 150 hours of vocational education are equal to one month of experience.)

Special Note:
Examples of advanced clerical experience include:

-Reviewing complex or questionable applications or documents and searching files and regulations to determine accuracy of information to clarify applicant status; using judgment in applying criteria rules regulations and policies; providing information to organizational unit staff on administrative processes and procedures; tracking expenditures; and completing necessary administrative paperwork according to regulations.
-Composing letters and memoranda; completing and reviewing forms for completeness and accuracy using readily available information from multiple sources and established guidelines and procedures. Examples of such tasks include time sheets appointment paperwork or required drug testing notifications for employees in positions requiring possession of a valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL).

BACKGROUND CHECK

This position requires the incumbent to submit to a fingerprint based criminal history background check. Due to the sensitive nature of this position and required access to APSIN an applicant with criminal convictions will not move forward in the selection process.
