Looking for a meaningful way to make a difference for someone who is approaching end of life

Become a Companion Volunteer and offer the one thing that matters most your presence.

Whether its sharing stories chatting about life playing some music or sitting beside someone your time can bring warmth comfort and connection to someone who truly needs it. Sometimes just being there is everything.

As a Companion Volunteer youll provide emotional support and conversation help people express what matters most to them share helpful information. You may also support family members or carers both before and after bereavement.

Youll receive full training and ongoing support from the Marie Curie team and youll be joining a community that cares as deeply as you do. Well never ask you to do anything youre not comfortable with.

Where youll be making a difference:

Were currently welcoming companion volunteers across Fifelocationseither as a regular visitor in a persons home care home or in hospital.

Volunteers are particularly needed in:

  • Dunfermline
  • Glenrothes
  • Kirkcaldy

Youd be a great fit if youre:

  • A good listener with a kind open heart
  • Non-judgemental and friendly
  • Emotionally steady in sensitive moments
  • Able to give around three to four hours a week
  • Comfortable using email and completing a short visit report
