Job Summary

Are you a dynamic nursing leader ready to make a lasting impact We are currently seeking passionate and experienced Nurse Unit Managers (NUMs) to lead and inspire high-performing teams across a variety of specialised units at our progressive healthcare facility.

Nurse Unit Manager Opportunities available in:

  • Perioperative Anaesthetics / PACU / DOSA (commencing January 2026)
  • Neonatal Critical Care Unit and Paediatric Inpatient Unit (commencing Feb 2026)
  • Intensive Care Unit (commencing January 2026)
  • Emergency Department (commencing January 2026)
  • Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD) (commencing January 2026)

Mater Hospital Springfield is seeking applications for multiple Nurse Unit Managers to join us in permanent full-time roles. Based at our Springfield campus these roles will be part of a landmark moment in Queensland healthcare at Mater Hospital Springfield opening early 2026. As Maters newest public hospital this state of the art facility will meet the needs of the growing Greater Springfield region. With 174 public beds ICU maternity emergency and surgical services its set to care for over 200000 patients annually.

Salary range: $71.42 - $76.80 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15900 access to many staff benefits!

What youll be doing

As a NUM you will play a pivotal role in clinical leadership operational management and driving excellence in patient-centred care. Youll be supported by a collaborative leadership team and encouraged to lead innovation and continuous improvement in your unit.

About you

You will have a minimum of five years full time experience in the relevant area as a Nurse Unit Manager Clinical Nurse or other leadership role:

  • Extensive leadership experience within a nursing unit in a complex hospital environment
  • Demonstrated competence in cost centre management.
  • High-level interpersonal written and verbal communications skills with the ability to engage with internal stakeholders at various levels to achieve
  • Current AHPRA Nursing registration
  • Experienced in opening a new ward is desirable
