Job Summary

This exciting position offers the opportunity to work as part of a vibrant purpose-driven team providing financial insight and support that directly contributes to the wellbeing and self-determination of the Aboriginal community. The role will be responsible to ensure provision of accurate and compliant accounting and reporting maintain General ledger. Youll help drive informed decision-making across a diverse range of culturally grounded services. Salary: $100000$120000 per annum (based on experience) superannuation salary packaging benefits leave loading and additional organisational benefits.

Organisational Profile

GEGAC is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation based in Bairnsdale Victoria. Consisting of about 180 staff GEGAC is a Not-for-Profit organisation that delivers holistic services in the areas of Primary Health Social Services Elders & Disability and Early Childhood Education.

GEGAC advocates for the self-determination of the Aboriginal community by prioritising services that enhance social emotional and spiritual wellbeing with culture at the heart of everything we do.

Position Purpose

The Financial Accountant must provide professional accounting services to GEGAC assisting the Senior Manager Business & Finance with high level accounting reporting taxation and grant acquittal skills ensuring GEGAC general ledger reconciliations are in accordance with accounting standards and ATO requirements. Funding milestones are recorded. Contribute to the finance teams funding reporting and audit requirements. Supervise the day-to-day activities of the Finance Officer role.

Key Selection Criteria

Thorough knowledge of accounting principles financial regulations and reporting standards (AASB GAAP etc) with relevant work experience in accounting roles. Work experience in a NFP is desirable but not a requirement.

Demonstrated experience in financial and management reporting including budgeting analysis forecasting and liaison with budget owners.

Demonstrated experience in maintaining an accurate general ledger and performing reconciliations.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Solid understanding of ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central desirable)

Strong excel skills and an aptitude for data analysis with high levels of attention to detail

Understanding of not-for- profit operations and culture including ACNC standard accounts and reporting expectations.

Qualifications and Registrations Requirement (Essential or Desirable).

Degree qualification in accounting/finance ESSENTIAL

Working towards a CPA ACMA CGMA or CA registration or equivalent ESSENTIAL

Valid drivers licence ESSENTIAL

A satisfactory Working with Children Check and Fit2Work Police Check ESSENTIAL

A person of Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander background DESIRABLE

Proof of COVID-19 vaccinated to align with GEGAC requirements ESSENTIAL
