The job:
As Senior Director Commercial Finance you will be responsible for the commercial finance function within Thermo Fishers Research & Safety Division (RSD) Europe. The team covers three critical areas: Transactional Analytics & Business partnering. You will lead a team of 24 providing oversight and support for our fast-paced and innovative Europe sales team. You will also lead all aspects of activities such as planning for the future managing performance modeling customer deals setting operational prices improving VSP and margins all contributing to the commercial success of our business. The work of the team is multifaceted with insight to our customers and business leaders offering an exciting opportunity to develop valuable experience and professional growth.
This role is fully office-based (4 days office 1 day wfh) based at any of our RSD sites across Europe. These include: Loughborough & Paisley (UK); Illkirch (France); Landsmeer (Netherlands); Brussels (Belgium); Schwerte (Germany); Madrid (Spain); and Milan (Italy). Some international travel will be required up to 25% of working time including overnight stays.

What will you do
- Provide financial leadership to define plan and successfully carry out the commercial strategy
- Act as key business partner for VP of Sales and the Sales leadership team by designing commercial solutions and providing thoughtful challenging and valuable insight.
- Collaborate with the Commercial leaders to question and steer the efficient allocation of available resources with a continuous improvement approach.
- Mentor and coach support the group and assist in their growth.
- Translate financial and non-financial metrics to support commercial leaders in driving the business forward.
- Review of large and sophisticated proposals and assess commercial risk.
- Drive the future of analytics and associated organizational change within the commercial and finance teams through storytelling with data automation and dashboards.
- Facilitate a strong collaboration between the team and the larger commercial team to support initiatives aimed at driving improvements.
- Improve forecasting accuracy through refining processes.
- Own the STRAP revenue process and business partner with segment sales leaders to define and plan for the STRAP horizon.
- Lead the price roll process from the VSP contract model and operational pricing process.
- Own the Annual Operating Plan process as well as monthly forecasting updates collaborating with both the commercial team as well as the broader matrix organization.
- Manage the finance unit in delivering further ad hoc analysis.
- Drive a culture of continuous change and improvement.
Who we are looking for:
- Bachelors degree in business (specialization in finance preferred); Masters preferred
- Prior commercial finance experience with an international finance background and experience within a matrixed organization
- Extensive commercial business partnering experience
- Strong financial technical skills combined with business insight to connect financials with commercial developments
- Minimum of 10 years experience leading direct reports
- Leadership accountability accuracy clear and concise communication skills
- Ability to present a compelling case with strong analytical skills
- Possess a strong set of personal and business values that coincide with those of Thermo Fishers 4I values
- Process driven with proven track record of simplifying process to positively impact business results
