Your Impact

As the Principal Product Designer for Enterprise Real-Time Operations youll shape how private-sector security teams engage with Axons real-time platform to protect people property and operations. Youll design for a new and growing class of userscorporate security professionals analysts and operations leadersworking across complex distributed environments where speed clarity and collaboration are critical.

Your work will drive the customer feedback loop using research and prototyping to explore the problem space uncover user needs and define product direction. Youll partner closely with product engineering and business teams to ensure enterprise experiences are grounded in real-world workflows not assumptions. This is a high-impact strategic role where success means reshaping how private and public safety intersect.

What Youll Do

Location:This role is based out of our Boston office and follows a hybrid schedule. We rely on in-person collaboration and ask that team members work onsite Tuesdays through Fridays with the flexibility to work remotely on Mondays unless there is an approved workplace accommodation. Reports to: Director Product Design

• Conduct field and remote research to deeply understand our users their environments and their missions.
• Build a continuous user feedback loopdriving generative research synthesizing insights and shaping product direction based on real-world user needs.
• Lead experience strategy for enterprise users of the Real-Time Operations platform including corporate security operations teams and analysts.
• Collaborate deeply with product engineering deployment and sales to ensure we deliver scalable intuitive and responsible experiences that reflect user goals and business impact.
• Translate complex workflows into elegant actionable and context-aware designs.
• Design across the lifecyclefrom early concepting and opportunity framing to high-fidelity prototypes and usability validation.
• Use systems thinking to model user journeys and connected workflows across multiple products personas and contexts.
• Serve as a design leader within RTO helping set the vision standards and strategy for the broader experience platform.
• Act as an advocate for user-centered design across cross-functional teams aligning stakeholders through insight storytelling and vision.
• Drive clarity in ambiguous problem spaces and elevate the enterprise experience across Axons real-time portfolio.

What You Bring

• Experience: 12 years of product design experience including leading design for complex AI ML or enterprise-scale systems. Proven ability to own end-to-end user experiences across multiple products with a focus on driving long-term UX strategy grounded in real-world use.
• Strategic Vision: Demonstrated success in setting and executing a UX direction that aligns with business priorities by working back from user behavior constraints and needsnot assumptions.
• Customer-Driven Practice: Deep experience engaging directly with users to explore their context pressure points and workflowsusing design to test learn and uncover what doesnotwork as much as what might.
• Technical Fluency: Comfortable working with generative AI large language models (LLMs) and emerging front-end technologiesespecially where abstraction and complexity must be tamed through design.
• Clarity in Ambiguity: Skilled at navigating open problem spacesidentifying patterns framing opportunities and using design as a tool for sense-making and strategic clarity.
• Practice Impact: Brings strong design judgment shaped by years of hands-on product work. Not focused on trends or surface-level polish but on building experiences that solve hard real problems at scale.
• Leadership Through Insight: Able to clearly communicate design rationale lead cross-functional discovery and align diverse teams around user outcomes.
• Team Contributor: Invested in mentoring other designers sharing methods and helping raise the quality and ambition of design across the org.

The Pay: Axon is a total compensation company meaning compensation is made up of base pay bonus and stock awards. The starting base pay for this role is between USD 164250 in the lowest geographic market and USD 262800 in the highest geographic market. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors such as: level function training transferable skills work experience business needs geographic market and often a combination of all these factors.
