A thriving and community-focused secondary school in South East London is seeking a highly organised proactive and committed Premises Manager to join the team on an immediate basis. This is a full-time year-round position and an excellent opportunity for someone experienced in school site management or facilities operations to take ownership of the smooth and safe running of a large busy school environment.
As Premises Manager you will be responsible for the day-to-day strategic and operational management of the school site ensuring that the buildings grounds and facilities are clean secure compliant and fully operational. You will lead a small premises and cleaning team working closely with senior leadership to ensure the school environment supports high-quality learning and is safe for staff students and visitors.
Your responsibilities will include:
Overseeing planned and reactive maintenance
Ensuring compliance with health & safety legislation statutory checks and safeguarding requirements
Managing contractors and service providers
Supervising cleaning site staff and maintenance operatives
Overseeing security opening/locking the site and emergency procedures
Conducting risk assessments and ensuring necessary checks (fire safety water testing asbestos monitoring etc.) are completed
Managing budgets and ordering equipment / materials as required
Leading on minor repairs and supporting larger refurbishment projects
You will play an essential role in ensuring the school runs smoothly safely and efficiently every day.

The ideal candidate will have:
Experience in premises/facilities management (school experience preferred but not essential)
Strong knowledge of Health & Safety compliance and building management
Practical skills in repairs maintenance or hands-on site work
Leadership ability and confidence managing a premises team
Strong organisational and communication skills
A proactive reliable and professional approach
This role would also suit someone with previous caretaking or site management experience ready to take a step up.
