Job Summary

A leading Independent School in Ipswich is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Music Teacher to join their Performing Arts faculty immediately or from January. This is an exceptional opportunity for a committed practitioner who values the power of music ensemble work and performance culture within a high-achieving school environment.

About the Role

You will teach Music across KS3 and KS4 with opportunities to support A-Level Music depending on your experience. The school has a thriving extra-curricular programme and the successful candidate will be encouraged to lead or support ensembles choirs instrumental groups or musical theatre productions.

The department includes:

  • A specialist music suite

  • Multiple rehearsal rooms

  • A digital composition and recording studio

  • Dedicated spaces for practice ensemble rehearsal and performance

Concerts recitals and seasonal productions are regular highlights of the school year contributing to a strong cultural identity rooted in participation and artistic excellence.

You will help develop student musicianship through:

  • Composition

  • Performance

  • Music theory and listening skills

  • Ensemble rehearsal and collaborative musicianship

Students are enthusiastic talented and receptive many take peripatetic lessons and participate in the schools wide range of ensembles.

Person Specification

  • QTS or independent-sector equivalent

  • Strong musical skills (specialism flexible vocal instrumental composition etc.)

  • Ability to inspire and motivate students through engaging ambitious teaching

  • Confidence in leading or supporting ensembles

  • Warm professional presence and strong communication skills
