While FRB does have an office in Manhattan Westchester and California this position will be primarily based out of our Rockville Centre location and can be hybrid or fully remote for the right candidate.Job SummaryThe Finance and Accounting Specialist/ Junior Comptroller supports the Comptroller/CFO in overseeing the accounting and finance operations of the firm. This role ensuresaccuratefinancial reporting compliance with accounting standards and legal/regulatory requirements (including law-firm specific requirements) and contributes to financial planning analysis internal controls and operational efficiency.The ideal candidate will have the capability to create journal entries and reconcile deposits in QBO to our billing system (CLIO) assist with monthly closes in QBO calculate and prepare complex commissions calculations and other financial reports and address 401K and workers comp audits at a minimum. They will be organized and approach each issue with an analytical mindset.Reports ToController and the Management CommitteeKey Responsibilities- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations: general ledger accounts payable accounts receivable billing/collections payroll bank/treasury activities.
- Assistin managing the month-end quarter-end and year-end close processes including journal entries account reconciliations and preparation of financial statements.
- Prepare andanalyzeinternal and external financial reports (balance sheet income statement cash-flow partner / equity accounting as applicable to law firm).
- Assistwith budgetary processes forecasting and variance analysis; provide insights and recommendations.
- Work closely with other departments (e.g. practice groups billing department operations) to support businessobjectives cost-managementand profitability analysis.
- Support audit activities (internal/external) taxfilingsand compliance matters (including law-firm specific matters like partner compensation trust accounting etc.).
- Identifyprocess improvement opportunities system automation/enhancementand reporting efficiencies.
- Serve as backup in billing/depositswhen needed.
Required Qualifications- Bachelors degree in Accounting
- 3 years of progressively responsible accounting/finance experience; experience in a law firm or professional services environment strongly desirable.
- Excellent analytical problem-solvingorganizationaland communication skills. Ability to engage with attorneys/partners operationsand management.
- Proficiencywith QuickBooksOnline and mastery of Excel skills (pivot tables lookups modeling).
- High levelof integrityconfidentialityand the ability to handle sensitive financial and partner/firm-equity matters.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously meetdeadlinesand work effectively in a collaborative but fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications- Priorlaw-firmor professional services accounting experience (including partner compensation)
- Experience with business intelligence/reporting tools processautomationor finance systems implementation.
- Familiarity with billing/timekeeping systems specific to law firms and the intersections of finance operations in the legal services environment.
