Job Summary:
We are looking for a Senior FinOps Advisor to lead cloud financial management initiatives optimize cloud costs and drive financial accountability across the organization. This role requires a deep understanding of cloud economics cost optimization strategies and financial governance to help our teams make data-driven decisions and maximize cloud efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Cloud Cost Optimization & Financial Management
- Analyze cloud consumption across AWS Azure and GCP to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Develop and implement FinOps best practices to optimize cloud spending and efficiency.
- Establish cost allocation models chargeback/showback mechanisms and financial governance policies.
- Collaborate with engineering finance and procurement teams to ensure budget alignment and forecasting accuracy.
2. FinOps Strategy & Governance
- Define and enhance FinOps frameworks policies and processes to improve financial transparency.
- Develop dashboards reports and KPIs to monitor cloud costs and efficiency.
- Provide guidance on pricing models reserved instances and savings plans to maximize cost efficiency.
- Conduct regular cloud financial reviews with stakeholders highlighting key insights and cost trends.
3. Stakeholder Collaboration & Advisory
- Act as a trusted advisor to executives finance teams and cloud engineers ensuring alignment on financial objectives.
- Partner with engineering DevOps and product teams to implement cost-aware cloud architectures.
- Educate teams on FinOps principles cost optimization techniques and budgeting best practices.
4. Automation & Tooling
- Leverage FinOps tools (e.g. CloudHealth Cloudability AWS Cost Explorer Azure Cost Management) to automate cost tracking and reporting.
- Implement automation for cost control measures such as auto-scaling resource tagging and rightsizing recommendations.
- Work with engineering teams to integrate cost monitoring solutions into cloud environments.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- 7 years of experience in cloud financial management FinOps or a related field.
- Deep expertise in AWS Azure and/or GCP cloud pricing models billing structures and cost optimization strategies.
- Strong understanding of FinOps principles and experience implementing cost governance frameworks.
- Hands-on experience with FinOps tools such as CloudHealth Apptio Cloudability AWS Cost Explorer or similar platforms.
- Proficiency in financial forecasting budgeting and cost allocation methodologies.
- Experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams (finance engineering and procurement).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
- FinOps Certified Practitioner or FinOps Certified Professional certification.
- Experience working in large-scale cloud environments with multi-cloud strategies.
- Proficiency in SQL Python or scripting languages for cost analysis and automation.
- Experience with Kubernetes cost management and containerized workload optimization.
