Job Summary
Team Pricing & Underwriting Governance
Working Pattern - Hybrid 2days per week in the Vitality Bournemouth Office.Full time 35 hours per week.
Top 3 skills needed for this role:
- Quality-driven mindset with previous experience working in an Ops environment - Able to prove accuracy through audits checks or documentation work
- Collaborative communicator - Previous experience in supporting cross-functional teams and resolving queries
- Underwriting experience preferred
What this role is all about:
Make sure the underwriting process meets quality standards for all types of clientsindividuals small businesses and large companiesfor both new applications and existing customers. Check that risks taken on by VitalityHealth are priced correctly and follow the companys underwriting policies.
Be a go-to person for any questions about pricing helping teams in Servicing Retention and Sales by providing timely and accurate answers based on the official pricing rules.
Review discount requests with the Pricing team ensuring their commercially viable and follow underwriting principles.
Build strong relationships across teams to support collaboration and shared goals.
Key Actions
- Provide accurate responses to requests received in person or by email including supplying rate cards and ensure this is done within the agreed service levels
- Conduct regular checks such as underwriting audits quality assurance reviews and twice-yearly tests to make sure processes follow the Large Corporate Underwriting Philosophy
- Keep underwriting philosophy documents and guidelines updated as needed
- Carry out all quality checks required for underwriting licence progression and offer expert recommendations based on the results
- Stay up-to-date and well-informed about underwriting guidelines and philosophies to ensure consistency and accuracy in your work and the work of others
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date logs and databases to enable the production of reliable management information
- Assess discount requests by analysing how a scheme is performing to make sure any discounts meet commercial requirements
- Support other tasks when needed such as collecting monthly competitor data
What do you need to thrive
- A good command of written English and Numerical skills
- Energetic and adaptable person who enjoys working in a fast-changing and innovative environment
- Experience checking the work of others and talking through any problems with them and their managers
- Strong organisational and communication skills able to handle several tasks at once and plan your time well
- Confident using Microsoft Office tools especially Excel to manage and review data both through standard processes and when needed
- Able to keep sensitive business information private
- Great verbal and written communication skills including presenting complex ideas clearly to both small and large groups
- Very detail-focused and thorough in your work
