Robotics Engineer
J.H. Fletcher & Co. a worldwide leader in the manufacture of heavy mobile mining machinery has an immediate opening for a Robotics Engineer at our Huntington WV facility. This position plays a key role within the Research & Development Department driving innovation in automation robotics and machine control systems for both mining and non-mining applications. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in robotics programming and kinematics as well as a passion for developing advanced technology solutions for heavy industrial equipment.

Required:
Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
Experience with object-oriented programming techniques in C and/or Python
Proficiency with Linux and Robot Operating System (ROS)
Ability to derive and implementforward and inverse kinematics for multi-joint systems
Knowledge of LiDAR and vision systems (including stereoscopic/3D)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Strong mathematical and engineering problem-solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to score at least 80% on the Bennett Mechanical Aptitude Test
Preferred:
Experience designingrobotic systems for mining equipment or similar industrial applications
Familiarity with Solid Edge CAD software TeamCenter and AS400 systems
Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills for cross-functional teamwork
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
Develop and implement robotic control software to meet R&D and production objectives
Specify and integrate hardware such as sensors LiDAR and 3D vision systems with machine control systems
Perform kinematic analysis and algorithm development for robotic and multi-joint systems
Visit customer sites vendors and suppliers to provide technical support and gather design input
Collaborate with internal shops to advise on robotic assembly and integration
Create and maintain Bills of Material (BOM) and ensure consistency between drawings parts books and documentation
Provide technical support for customer inquiries and assist with field issues on current or legacy products
Support the Sales and Service departments with product knowledge and technical expertise including occasional after-hours meetings
Ensure compliance with all company safety rules and procedures

Exempt Status: Exempt
Physical Requirements: Sedentary work; occasional standing walking bending or lifting up to 50 lbs.
Working Conditions: Some field travel required; occasional underground mine exposure or extended hours may be necessary.
