Overview
The Security Officer II is responsible for the safety and security of all patients employees contractors trainees vendors and visitors utilizing Institute facilities. The incumbent will complete regular security rounds; check for and verify proper identification; sign-in/out individuals; provide escort services; control building ingress and egress; write reports; ensure adherence and compliance of Institute policies; and promptly respond to disturbances while on duty. Thispositionrequires previous and related work experience.
Responsibilities
- Provide for the safety and security of all patients employees contractors trainees vendors and visitors utilizing Institutes methods protocol policy and procedure.
- Check for Kennedy Krieger Institute issued identification (ID) badges and complete the sign-in/out process for all patients employees contractors trainees vendors and visitors without Institute issued ID badges.
- Ensure enforcement and demonstrate compliance of all security related policies/procedures.
- Inspect packages carried out/entering buildings by patients employees contractors trainees vendors or visitors to ensure that the individual has proper pass/authorization for removal and to keep out contraband.
- Arm/disarm alarm systems and monitor Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) systems.
- Assist with investigations.
- Document and report all suspicious activity and prepare detailed reports as needed (i.e. Daily/monthly Activity Report Security Incident Report and Injury Reports).
- Ensure that assigned work environments are properly maintained and clean. Report safety/security issues property defects fire hazards theft and vandalism to appropriate authority in a timely fashion.
- Assist with training new/less experienced security officers and contract staff.
Qualifications
High school diploma GED or equivalent required.
- Minimum two (2) years of previous security work experience is required.
- Previous law enforcement work experience military training or successful completion of related training from an accredited college program preferred.
- Report writing experience preferred.
