About Us:

The West Daly Regional Council covers 14000 square kilometres and is located about 300 to 420 kilometres south-west of Darwin. The area is mainly rural with three Indigenous communities at Peppimenarti Nganmarriyanga and Wadeye which are managed by West Daly Regional Council (Council).

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for carrying out a range of works to maintain repair and improve Councils building and infrastructure assets within the West Daly Region which include the communities of Peppimenarti Palumpa and Wadeye and surrounding Homelands.

The key duties of this role include but are not limited to:

  • Study and analyse blueprints and floor plans to understand the plumbing system and water supply system layout.
  • Navigate the assembly and installation of pipes and tubes without interfering with existing infrastructure.
  • Measure cut and bend pipe material.
  • Response to plumbing calls from the Community Services Managers
  • Execute the installation repair and maintenance of water sewerage and sprinkler systems within the West Daly Regional Council Community.
  • Assemble valves fittings tubes and water system appliances.
  • Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of plumbing tools and equipment to ensure they are in optimal working condition.
  • Troubleshoot and fix issues relating to water supply lines.
  • Repair and replace system issues such as clogged drains faucet problems and broken drainage lines.
  • Maintain current knowledge of state regulations affecting plumbing work.
  • Collaborate with other Council departments and external stakeholders to coordinate plumbing activities effectively.
  • Work with our expeditor to obtain permits for plumbing work to be performed.
  • Communicate with community members regarding plumbing-related concerns providing information and addressing inquiries.
  • Prioritize and adhere to safety protocols and regulations during all plumbing operations.
  • Other duties as per the line manager request.

About You

To be successful in the role you must have:

  • NT Plumber and Drainer Advanced Tradesman Licence (or interstate equivalent)
  • Trade experience relevant to the safe supply of essential services (water and sewerage).
  • Experience with operation of excavators and/or backhoe.
  • Experience writing summary of works reports.
  • Working in Confined Spaces Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
  • Working at Heights Ticket (or willingness to obtain).
  • Current Northern Territory Drivers Licence (HR licence desirable).
  • National Criminal History Check clearance.
  • Current Working with Children/Ochre Card.
  • Proven ability to interpret plans diagnose and repair faults
  • Self-motivated and shows initiative take pride in own outputs.
  • Sound knowledge of the principles of Workplace Health & Safety.
  • Knowledge of basic financial principles.
