Job Duties
The Lab Technician will serve as system administrator and provide IT support for the Departments of Computer Science and Mathematics & Economics. Responsibilities include maintaining and upgrading departmental computer systems managing IT infrastructure and inventory supporting computer laboratories and assisting with multimedia and website needs.
The objective of the Department of Computer Science is to:
1. Offer high-quality instruction to individuals seeking a strong foundation in computational thinking and problem-solving and to promote research through technical and professional support as well as active participation in scholarly activities that advance science and enhance teaching.
2. Provide students with opportunities to develop a solid understanding of fundamental concepts in
Computer Science thereby preparing them for continued academic and professional growth upon
graduation.
3. Equip students for successful careers in fields such as Artificial Intelligence Machine Learning
Cybersecurity Software Development Software Consulting and Data Analysis across industry private
enterprise and government sectors.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of IT management;
Ability to lead large IT projects (including the design and deployment of new IT systems and services departmental reports);
Experience assessing vendors and developing test strategies for new hardware and software;
Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software issues related to internal IT;
Ability to analyze business requirements by partnering with key stakeholders across the organization to develop solutions for IT needs;
Ability to support the department to define IT infrastructure strategy architecture and processes.
Additional Considerations
Associates/Bachelors degree preferred.
