Job Summary
South Shore Regional Centre for Education
The South Shore Regional Centre for Education (SSRCE) practices the culturally responsive pedagogy approach in providing an inclusive diverse equitable safe and healthy education that supports learning and success both personally and academically to the 59000 residents of Lunenburg and Queens Counties an area of 5250 square kilometres and a total of 23 schools.

Permit Substitute Teacher (Must have completed BA or BSc) - North Queens Commuity School Only
These positions are for those individuals who have experience working with children AND have a completed undergraduate degree.
Effective Dates: Immediately upon receipt of your permit to teach until the end of the 2025/2026 school year
Position Status: Causal (as needed basis)
Location: North Queens Community School

Rate of Pay: $240.06 per day (as outlined in the Teachers Provincial Agreement)
The South Shore Regional Centre for Education has substitute assignments daily . Alternate (Permit) Substitute teacher positions occur when a teacher is engaged on a day-to-day basis to take the place of a regular classroom teacher and when a substitute teacher is not available employed by the SSRCE who is on any type of paid leave. Alternate (Permit) Substitute teachers are paid two (2) weeks behind. Permit subsitute teachers are permitted only to pick up sub positions after 6:00am on the day of.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
Commpleted Bachelors Degree in Math Science English French Business Arts or related field
Experience working with children is required
Satisfactory completion of the Child Abuse Register check
Satisfactory completion of the Criminal Records and Vulnerable Sector Checks
SSRCE will provide you with all the information you will need to apply for a permit to teach IF you are selected through our screening process as a possible applicant. We will provide you with specific instructions on the process and the documents required.
IF you are shortlisted to be considered you will receive a new hire employment package and Application for Permit to Teach. As part of this package we will ask you to provide up to date Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector checks along with a Child Abuse Registry check; these must be originals and within three months of hire date to be valid.
Original sealed transcripts from all educational institutions will also be required as part of the application (if you have taken ONE course for your degree at a separate university you will require tanscripts from that university as well as the university you graduated from)

If you are shortlisted and approved for an application this process takes about six weeks from the time the original documents are submitted to HR.
