About CFR
The Center for Family Representation (CFR) is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated intern to support our Communications team with a variety of projects and daily this role you will assist the Communications department by conducting research and media monitoring analyzing data and completing a special project of your own design. Strong teamwork organizational skills and a willingness to learn are essential for success in this role.
Responsibilities
Social Media and Content Creation
Under the supervision of the Communications Director create first drafts of social media posts for CFRs social media channels (Bluesky Instagram Threads LinkedIn).
Draft paragraph-long client sunshine stories based on internal updates from CFR staff.
Under the supervision of the Communications Director create social media graphics that follow CFRs brand guidelines.
Monitor CFRs social media channels for opportunities to interact with or share content follow thought leaders and generally build and maintain relationships.
Under the supervision of the Communications department ensure that the departmental calendar is up to date and assist with scheduling meetings.
Media and News
Assist Communications department with daily digital media monitoring and round ups of articles to CFR practice areas.
Under the supervision of the Communications Director update CFRs media list with journalists/outlets that cover issues relevant to the organization.
Support the Communications team with background research for op-eds letters to the editor and media talking points.
Community Engagement
When possible attend in-person tabling sessions know-your-rights trainings and other CFR events.
With guidance from the Communications team take photo and video content to share externally during in-person events.
Under the supervision of the Communications Director share live posts and stories from CFR events.
Special Project
Throughout the semester the Communications intern will have the opportunity to pitch develop and implement a special project - either a social media toolkit or an audit that details how to improve engagement on social media. The intern will work closely with the Communications team on every element of this project.
CFR will consider undergraduate and graduate students with a demonstrated interest in our and/or related work. All applicants must be affiliated with an accredited program for academic credit internship and/or paid fellowship.
