Financial Planning Analyst - CE BSS

The Role:

Looking for a dynamic professional to lead financial planning and analysis interpreting short- and long-term financial and operational plans to support strategic decision-making. The role involves management reporting trend analysis impact assessment and ensuring alignment with British Council policies and local regulations. Supporting Cultural Engagement (CE) and Business Support Services (BSS) the post is part of a regionally dispersed Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team and may cover specific business units or geographies.

Accountabilities:

Accountable for the analysis and interpretation of long-term financial and operational plans for Cultural Engagement (CE) Education Arts English and Business support services through management reporting analysis and interpretation of financial trends.

Planning forecasting and budgeting:

  • Support the planning process for the CE & BSS challenging submissions and identifying synergies and ensuring delivery to deadlines.
  • Provide clear summaries of CE & BSS planning / forecasting.
  • Support FP&A Lead in the planning and rolling re-forecasting processes to ensure that information obtained from these processes is reliable.
  • Ensure plan and forecast data by the businesses are in line with approved guidelines and assumptions.
  • Support the FP&A Lead in developing reporting procedures and templates for regional and local use.

Financial analysis:

  • Advise on specific business / operational financial issues around efficiency product and business trends and KPIs.

Management Reporting:

  • Provide clear accurate and timely information on business performance against targets according to the reporting timetable and as otherwise directed.
  • Manage CE & BSS management reporting for consolidation at Regional level for SBU leads and Executive Board.

Business Performance Management:

  • Participate in the reviews of financial performance with FP&A Lead and business leads by providing scenario analysis and financial support to forward planning decisions.
  • Monitor cost allocation accuracy.
  • Assist individual managers in solving data hygiene / SAP issues.
  • Deliver outputs within corporate and regional timelines as requested by FP&A Lead.

Regional and Functional Team Working:

  • Actively support equality and diversity and work as per the British Councils EDI policy at all times.
  • Contribute to ensuring the policies procedures and systems are delivered with integrity.
  • Work closely and effectively as part of the regional and global finance teams.

Role specific knowledge and experience:

Essential:

  • Experience in end-to-end FP&A operational financial management and management accounting.
  • Delivery of results within a complex international structure and reporting to tight deadlines.
  • Working in virtual teams.
  • Experience of working on SAP

Role Specific Skills:

Strong awareness of developments within relevant sector

  • Business Performance Management - Provide meaningful basic analysis of management information. Analyse business results identify and communicate learning points.
  • Financial Analysis - Use financial analysis to evaluate performance.
  • Management Reporting - Extract and deliver accurate and timely management information reports always ensuring data integrity. Review management information reports identifying and highlighting variances.
  • Planning Forecasting and Budgeting - Contribute to planning and forecasting activities and apply skills in basic modelling. Reporting planning & forecasting within a complex multi-site environment.
  • Business Partnering- Engage with others to understand needs and support the business by providing relevant accurate and consistent financial information on a timely basis.
  • Ability to explain complex financial data to non-finance people using non-technical language.
  • Advanced excel skills including pivot tables.
  • ERP systems experience (transaction level and reporting).

Education:Commerce Graduate and Postgraduate /CA Inter
