Your role and your tasks:

As our Backend Engineer (m/f/x) you will play a key role in evolving our market-leading content platform for world-class retailers like MediaMarkt Otto and Fnac - and brands like Microsoft Logitech and Bosch.

• Design and build cloud-native backend services in a microservices architecture ( and maintain AWS Lambda functions containerized applications (ECS K8s) asynchronous communication (SNS/SQS) REST APIs and monitoring of critical infrastructure.

• Contribute to the reliability and scalability of content delivery systems that handle billions of monthly requests.

• Support the migration of legacy services to modern infrastructure focusing on scalability cost-efficiency and CDN optimization (Cloudflare AWS).

• Collaborate closely with frontend QA and product teams to deliver new features and continuously improve backend performance.

• Work with senior engineers and the CTO on architectural and infrastructure improvements.

• Write clean maintainable code contribute to code reviews and follow engineering best practices.

• Ensure code quality through unit and integration testing and contribute to documentation (C4 modelling preferred).

• Actively participate in sprint planning reviews and cross-team collaboration in an agile environment.

Now lets talk about you:

• 3-5 years of backend development experience with JavaScript/TypeScript and .

• Good experience with AWS cloud services infrastructure design and system refactoring.

• Good expertise in writing IaC best in AWS CDK.

• Good documentation and modeling skills (like C4 modelling).

• Solid understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases.

• Hands-on experience with CI/CD and Docker.

• You are mastering both coding architectural and Cloud Infrastructure skills. This enables you to not only implement tickets but also plan and architecture features and refactoring from the start.

• Experience in designing and scaling distributed systems in a microservices environment.

• Strong communicator with a hands-on mindset and comfortable working in agile cross-functional teams.

• Bonus: experience with Java Kubernetes or network/system engineering.

• Fluent in English; German is a plus.
