Medical Laboratory Scientist FT Flex Evening Shift

We are searching for a Medical Laboratory Scientist to work full time flex 8-hour shifts Monday - Friday 3:00 p.m. - 11:30 p.m. with rotating weekends and addition the MLS will rotate between the Newark and Wilmington laboratories with most time spent in the Newark lab.

As a Medical Laboratory Scientist you will perform/support Point of Care Testing (POCT) test procedures on the laboratory approved POCT test menu and associated activities to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of addition you will support acute hospital and ambulatory POCT activities of non-laboratorians across the system as needed.

Responsibilities:

• Accurately performs all test procedures as listed in the procedure manual.

• Performs and records all scheduled instrument preventative maintenance procedures.

• Follows established quality control procedures documenting corrective action if necessary.

• Adheres to all turnaround times documents calls as necessary verifies critical values and specimen identification.

• Verifies completion of all stat results and all routine results in a timely manner.

• Records workload and other statistics into computer system as necessary.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Bachelors of Science in Medical Technology or Medical Laboratory Science

• BS in a chemical physical biological science

• ASCP Certification preferred

• Knowledge of clinical laboratory techniques and procedures

• Knowledge of infection control techniques and procedures

• Ability to coordinate simultaneous tests and procedures with accuracy

• Ability to use automated laboratory equipment

• Oral and written communication skills
