Recreation Facility Attendant - Rental Attendant - PT
Status of Employment:
Part-Time Non-Exempt
Compensation & Benefits:
Expected hiring range $15.00 to $16.00 based on education experience and skills.

Position Summary:
The purpose of the Recreation Facility Attendant is to monitor and assist with the operation of the facility programs and events and implement related practices and procedures. Often responsible for opening and closing of facility before and after rental and set up and take down of tables chairs and/or equipment. Supervise rental groups. Ensure safety of patrons during operation of facility. This position is required to adhere to all Waukegan Park District (District) policies and procedures.
Essential Functions:
- Demonstrates good customer service in communicating with rental groups/patrons.
- Answers customer inquiries or directs to appropriate staff as necessary.
- Receives payment for admission or parking fees.
- Assists with and follows parking procedures as outlined by supervisor.
- Opens cash station prepares for the business day oversees balances and prepares daily reports counts money and secures station at the end of the business day.
- Enforces facility use rules and guidelines and District policies procedures rules and guidelines.
- Assists with the planning and implementation of programs and special events.
- Maintains proper inventory of all supplies and materials.
- Reviews facility schedule daily and sets up and takes down as needed cleans and maintains work area appropriate equipment and supplies for activities.
- Cleans up bodily fluids as needed after any accident.
- Open to instructions from event leaders or renters.
- Conducts walk through inspections to ensure site safety and documents deficiencies as required.
- Assists in the preparation and maintenance of reports and records regarding participants programs and services.
- Drives District vehicles to transport equipment to sites.
- Wears assigned uniforms at all times while on duty.
- Performs routine preventative and corrective custodial maintenance of the assigned facility.
- Performs routine facility maintenance functions including but not limited to general clean up trash removal and window cleaning.
- Assists with equipment maintenance.
- Contacts emergency personnel as needed.
- Attends department and District meetings and training sessions.
- Perform duties in compliance with established District policies and procedures.
- Participate in District safety and training program to ensure that work performed and services provided are done safely.
- Assists staff in completion of work orders.
- Maintains reports relating to daily admissions and usage.
- Assists with other recreation programs and special events as needed.
- Assists staff and volunteers in the performance of their duties.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities assigned by the supervisor to support the Recreation Department or the District.
Qualifications
Age:
Education:
- High school graduation preferred
Experience:
- Part-time or seasonal work with a recreation agency preferred
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- General knowledge of recreation principles and philosophy
- Basic knowledge of customer service recreation sports and fitness
- Equipment set up and use for rentals and high-volume usage
- Bilingual English and Spanish speaking desirable
- Work evenings weekends and holidays as assigned
- Be reliable dependable and prompt
- Communicates effectively verbally and in writing
- Shows initiative and responsibility
- Performs duties with minimal supervision
- Makes timely and effective decisions
- Follows through with assignments
- Organizes paperwork effectively
- Operates vehicles cash registers office machines or equipment necessary to perform job duties
- Oversees cash and balance fund
- Provides good customer service to coworkers and customers
- Drives safely and appropriately in all conditions
- Works effectively under stress of deadlines and issues
- Stays calm in emergency situations
- Works independently
- Works under direction of supervisor(s)
- Works In cooperation with co-workers public contractors vendors community groups and media in a proper manner
- Uses basic math reading and writing skills
- Balances cash register
- Trains and shares safety and other work-related practices with co-workers
- Follows procedures to obtain appropriate results
- Exhibits good problem-solving abilities
- Communicates effectively and responds appropriately to the needs of internal and external contacts
- Projects a positive image and neat appearance to visitors of the District
License/Certification:
- Valid and unrestricted drivers license (not including vision restrictions for corrective lenses) preferred
- First Aid/CPR/AED certification required within one (1) year of hire date
Hours:
Evenings and Weekends hours will vary depending on program needs 10-15 hours per week.
