Job Summary

Assist the classroom teacher with planning preparation and delivery of lessons across core subject areas.

Maintain an awareness of student special needs. Working with the classroom teachers and youth care aides coordinate the daily delivery of education services. Share any concerns related to the educational social and behavioral development of students with the special education and classroom teachers to refine the targeted instructional program.

Promote the educational social and behavioral development of students. Assist students in class and with transitions to and from school between classes and between activities. Maintain a dialogue with the teachers therapists and childcare staff regarding the students academic and behavioral progress and difficulties. Be open to the counsel of other members of the Red Top Meadows community and maintain a collaborative spirit in an effort to best meet the needs of the students.

Work with classroom teachers as partners in the classroom. Develop a meaningful and rewarding role within the classroom. Make time to debrief and problem solve with the teachers and childcare staff on a daily basis. Substitute teach in the absence of the primary teacher following established lesson plans and maintaining classroom standards.

Administer and track progress on weekly skill practice such as minute math and timed reading exercises geared to closing the achievement gap and to helping students meet Wyoming State Academic and Content Standards and special education activities. As part of our data collection efforts keep accurate and up-to-date education records.

Help students generalize between experiences and develop healthy habits. Actively find ways to link lessons learned in the classroom to life skills and practices. Provide guidance to students helping them to develop and work toward academic and vocational goals.

Be a positive role model for students and adhere to all school and general Red Top Meadows policies and procedures.



Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary starting at $52000 (based on experience).

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Education Psychology Social Work or related field required.
  • Previous experience working with youth preferably in residential treatment special education or alternative education settings.
  • Ability to adapt teaching and support methods to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Strong communication patience and relationship-building skills.
  • Capacity to remain calm and supportive in challenging situations.
  • Willingness to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Substitute teaching or classroom leadership experience preferred.
