Job Summary

Night Veterinary Nurse required to work on a 5 nights on / 5 nights off rota alongside our night veterinary surgeons. The role involves providing out-of-hours care for existing inpatients and attending to emergencies from our own client base as well as from surrounding spoke surgeries in the area.

Medivet Alfreton is a large driven and dedicated team of ten vets a fantastic head nurse twelve nurses and five receptionists who are currently recruiting for a part-time Veterinary Night Nurse on a fixed term basis.

Many of the vet team are certificate holders or are in the process of gaining them (specialising in dermatology surgery internal medicine emergency & critical care and ophthalmology) The practice is well-equipped with eight consult rooms separate dog and cat wards three sterile theatres separate suites for diagnostics dental facilities digital x-ray two staff rooms and much more. Our hospital works to high standards throughout and is dedicated to delivering amazing client and patient care.

You will be working alongside a dedicated Night Vet Surgeon and have support from twilight staff for the first part of the shift andwill be responsible for dealing with all out-of-hour care within both the hospital and the surrounding Medivet practices. This is based on a 5 Nights on and 5 Nights off rota 20:00 - 8:00

Role Accountabilities

In this role you will:

  • Consistently deliver exceptional care to your clients.

  • Support with surgeries and procedures completing all pre and post procedure activity.

  • Carry out nurse led appointments and schedule 3 activities.

  • Deliver patient monitoring and care.

  • Manage admissions and discharges as directed by the Veterinary team.

  • Complete patient transfers to out of hours or enhanced care.

  • Dispense and check medication.

  • Deliver professional excellencecomplying withall regulatory practice and operational standards.

  • Hold briefings to engage and co-ordinate your team to support the most effective running of the practice.

Your Skills and Experience

  • RCVS registered VeterinaryNurse.

  • Experience of delivering exceptional patient and client care.

  • Experienced in working effectively as part of a team.

  • Experience of supporting Nurse consults with an understanding of how this contributes topracticeperformance and efficiency.

  • Experienced in using coaching and influencing skills to get the best out of every colleague.
