Job Summary

Role Title: Consultant Academy & Pathway Psychologist

Reports to: Director of Talent & Development

Contract: Consulting Agreement

Hours: Approx. 8-10 hours per week (across the 42 programme weeks)

Remuneration: 10000 - 13000 per annum (dependant on experience and availability)

Location: The Cooper Associates County Ground Taunton (with regional travel as required)

The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a skilled Academy & Pathway Psychologist to join our environment on a consultancy basis.

This role will play a key part in supporting the psychological development and wellbeing of players across our boys and girls Academy and Pathway programmes. We are looking for a practitioner who can build meaningful relationships with young people coaches and the wider MDT and who is passionate about making psychology a practical visible and integrated part of long-term athlete development. You will be central in helping players understand themselves better manage challenge and adversity and develop the psychological flexibility needed to thrive in a high-performance sporting environment both now and in the future.

To give you a snapshot of what is involved you will be providing regular individual psychology support to academy players collaborating with Academy Leads and the multidisciplinary team to integrate psychology into players Personal Development Plans and delivering group sessions and workshops to develop psychological skills among emerging and age-group athletes. Youll also be working with parents to support player development assisting players transition from academy to professional settings alongside the clubs Performance Psychologist and training coaches and staff across the region to apply psychological principles effectively. Additionally the role requires maintaining proper documentation and regularly updating relevant staff on progress.


About You

Amongst other essential criteria you will have or be working towards HCPC registration and hold or be pursuing professional accreditation through BPS (QSEP Stage 2) or BASES. Youll have experience delivering both individual and group psychological support in youth or performance sports strong interpersonal skills to build rapport with adolescents and demonstrate the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams. An understanding of the psychological challenges faced by young athletes is essential along with a willingness to travel across the county and deliver support in a flexible manner.

You are highly organised proactive and capable of prioritising tasks effectively under pressure in dynamic environments. You are reflective committed to continuous professional development and maintain high standards of reliability and excellence. Flexible and adaptable you have strong communication skills and adopt an approachable and collaborative approach to work.

You will need to provide documentation from HMRC confirming your self-employment or company registration status.
