Our client is a leading Google Cloud Partner for the CEE (Central and Eastern Europe) and SEEMEA (South-Eastern Europe Middle East and Africa) regions specializing in delivering cutting-edge cloud services and solutions.
They are seeking a highly experienced strategic and commercially aware GCP DevOps/SRE Team Lead to be the senior technical authority for Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) and DevOps principles across their diverse client portfolio. You will lead a growing team of two engineers while translating complex business requirements into reliable scalable and secure multi-regional GCP architectures. This critical leadership role demands deep hands-on expertise advanced cloud architecture skills and excellent client-facing abilities
Key Responsibilities
GCP Architecture & Technical Strategy (40%)
- Architectural Leadership (Must-Have Skillset): Serve as the lead architect designing and implementing secure scalable and cost-optimized multi-regional cloud infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This expertise includes:
- Network Design: Deep expertise in complex GCP Networking services (VPC Shared VPC VPNs/Interconnect Load Balancing).
- Security Posture: Designing and enforcing robust IAM policies resource hierarchy and security controls across client projects.
- Cost Optimization: Proactively identifying and implementing strategies for billing efficiency and resource right-sizing.
- Business Translation: Proven ability to map business and regulatory requirements (e.g. data residency compliance) to a practical GCP technical design. - SRE Leadership: Define implement and enforce SRE principles including Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and Error Budgets to guarantee the reliability and performance of critical client systems.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC) Mastery: Drive the standardization and maturity of IaC using Terraform to ensure repeatable idempotent and auditable deployments across all client environments.
DevOps Execution & Reliability (30%)
- CI/CD & Automation: Architect and optimize robust Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines using Cloud Build and other relevant tools promoting GitOps methodologies.
- Containerization & Orchestration: Lead the design implementation and maintenance of modern containerized workloads using Docker and Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) at scale.
- Observability & DevSecOps: Implement comprehensive monitoring logging and alerting and integrate security best practices (DevSecOps) into the CI/CD pipeline and infrastructure design.
Team & Client Leadership (30%)
- Team Management & Mentorship: Lead coach and provide hands-on technical guidance to a small growing team of two DevOps/SRE engineers.
- Senior Client Engagement: Act as the senior technical consultant for clients translating business needs into clear reliable and cost-effective GCP technical roadmaps and project scopes.
- Incident & Post-Mortem Ownership: Oversee the incident response process for critical issues driving root cause analysis (RCA) and leading blameless post-mortems.
- Regional Expertise: Apply knowledge of the diverse technical and operational landscapes across the CEE and SEEMEA regions to tailor solutions.
Required Qualifications
Must-Have Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of progressive hands-on experience in DevOps SRE or Cloud Infrastructure roles.
- Expert-level proficiency with core GCP services.
- Demonstrable professional-level skill in Cloud Architecture (equivalent to a Professional Cloud Architects knowledge base): proven experience designing complex multi-region solutions encompassing networking security (IAM) and cost optimization.
- Extensive production-level experience with Terraform and Kubernetes (GKE).
- Demonstrated experience leading technical projects mentoring team members or serving as a Tech Lead.
Highly Desirable Skills:
- Experience in a technical consulting managed services or partner environment. Proven experience with cloud migration projects (on-prem to GCP or other clouds to GCP).
- Practical experience with Cloud Dataflow BigQuery or other data-centric GCP services.
- Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect Certification. Active Google Cloud Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer Certification.
- Proficiency in a programming/scripting language (Python or Go preferred).
- Experience defining and measuring Service Level Objectives (SLOs).
