Job Summary

Duration of engagement: 12 months
Location: Albany NY (Telecommuting negotiable)

Targeted start: 12/1/2025

Day-to-day tasks:

1. Establish and maintain application architecture standards across all platforms to ensure consistency scalability and maintainability.

2. Define and document coding standards development tools and technology platforms to promote best practices and streamline development efforts.

3. Conduct code and design reviews with development teams providing guidance and ensuring adherence to architectural and coding standards.

4. Develop and communicate future-state application architecture recommendations including infrastructure requirements and strategies to maintain a secure and modern architecture.

5. Create and maintain technology roadmaps that align with organizational goals and guide long-term application development strategies.

6. Maintain an inventory of current application capabilities define the desired future state and develop plans to address capability gaps.

7. Collaborate with other architects to review and coordinate architectural decisions ensuring alignment across the organization.

8. Participate in the full software development lifecycle including design development testing and deployment as needed.

9. Evaluate emerging technologies and provide recommendations and implementation plans for adoption where appropriate.

Software Architect

Makes high-level design choices and dictates technical standards including software coding standards tools and platforms. Designs multi-leveled architecture or component interactions of a large scale software system.

Senior 60 - 84 months: Candidate is able to work independently without assistance and provides guidance to others. May have an advanced education.

1. 60 Months experience as a software or application architect

2. 60 Months experience in software development on various platforms such as WebSphere ServiceNow PeopleSoft Oracle Application Express UiPath Microsoft Power Platform.

3. 60 Months experience performing software and application design and architecture as part of strategic initiatives.

4. 36 Months experience with cloud providers and cloud native solutions

5. 36 Months experience mentoring other architects and development managers

6. 36 Months experience as a technical lead on medium to large projects which can be defined as having one or more of the following: a project team size greater than 5 people; a duration of at least one year; a project budget of at least $250000; and reporting to agency executive leadership.

7. 12 Months experience with process automation software
