We are currently hiring a Sterile Services Technician for a reputed hospital in Cork Ireland.
Full time and permanent role
Key Responsibilities
Receive and handle contaminated instruments and equipment in the decontamination area ensuring the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Use chemical disinfectants and sterilants safely and in accordance with established protocols.
Adhere to Mater Private Cork Hospital policies and procedures particularly those relating to health and safety infection control hand hygiene and manual handling.
Operate decontamination and sterilization equipment (e.g. washers disinfectors ultrasonic cleaners) and promptly report any malfunctions or irregularities.
Sort inspect assemble and appropriately package all decontaminated items.
Ensure proper sterilization of processed items following validated procedures for loading unloading storage and sterility monitoring.
Maintain accurate traceability records and apply tracking labels as required.
Issue decontamination certificates for sterile items dispatched from the hospital.
Maintain control of access and traffic within restricted areas ensuring proper use of surgical scrub attire.
Perform any other duties as assigned by the Theatre Services Manager or designated line manager.
Requirements
Leaving Certificate or equivalent (desirable)
Previous experience in a Sterile Services role (desirable but not essential)
Ability to prioritise tasks and work on own initiative
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in inspection work
