About the Role
The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Behavioral Health Physician Assistant or APRN provides direct psychiatric evaluation diagnosis and medication management for individuals with substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. This role combines clinical acumen with a patient-centered trauma-informed approach to care. The provider will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure coordinated treatment and high-quality outcomes through both telehealth and in-person care models.
What Youll Do
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and formulate individualized treatment plans.
- Provide medication management including initiation and ongoing monitoring of psychotropic and medication-assisted treatments (MAT) such as buprenorphine naltrexone and Vivitrol.
- Deliver care in compliance with evidence-based practices and within scope of licensure.
- Collaborate closely with therapists case managers and medical staff to support integrated behavioral health care.
- Educate patients and families about diagnoses treatment options side effects and recovery goals.
- Maintain timely and accurate documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) consistent with HIPAA 42 CFR Part 2 and organizational standards.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings case reviews and clinical supervision as required.
- Stay current with best practices in psychiatric and addiction medicine through continuing education.
What You Bring
- Masters or Doctoral degree in Nursing (APRN) or Physician Assistant Studies.
- Active unrestricted Connecticut license as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) APRN or Physician Assistant (PA-C).
- High levels of patient engagement and treatment adherence.
- Accurate timely and compliant documentation of all patient encounters.
- Collaboration that supports integrated recovery-oriented care.

Experience: Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in psychiatry behavioral health or addiction medicine preferred.
Licensure/Certification:
Active unrestricted license as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) APRN or Physician Assistant (PA-C) in Connecticut.
DEA registration with buprenorphine waiver (preferred or must be obtained within 90 days of hire).
Competencies:
Strong diagnostic and psychopharmacologic skills.
Knowledge of trauma-informed and recovery-oriented care models.
Familiarity with telehealth delivery and electronic medical record systems.
Excellent communication empathy and collaboration skills.
