Job Summary:

The Department of Nuclear Engineering & Engineering Physics (NEEP) in the College of Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison seeks candidates for a tenure-track/tenured faculty position in nuclear engineering with a focus on plasma theory and computation.

NEEP has a long history of plasma theory and computation leadership within the UW-Madison plasma and fusion community. A new faculty member will contribute to that leadership with a research program that brings innovative approaches to understanding plasma behavior in various configurations and systems in an evolving fusion energy ecosystem. Demonstrated potential for excellence in research and teaching in these or related areas is desired.

The new hire will have a tenure home in the Department of Nuclear Engineering & Engineering Physics and will join a faculty community with diverse research interests related plasma physics and fusion. As a member of our campus a vibrant nuclear engineering research community the new hire will have many opportunities to establish collaborations with both experimental and computational research groups already active on the UW campus. Faculty members are expected to establish and maintain a world-class graduate research program teach courses contribute to the education and professional development of a diverse community of undergraduate and graduate students and engage in department college university and appropriate community and professional service activities.

Key Job Responsibilities:

Teaching and developing undergraduate and graduate courses; supervising graduate student research; developing and directing a strongly funded research program; promoting an environment for learning and research; participating in departmental and university faculty governance; and contributing to professional and public service.

Required Qualifications:

  • The successful candidate will have an excellent academic record a vision for an innovative significant and impactful research program the skills to implement it and a commitment to high quality and inclusive undergraduate and graduate instruction and mentoring.

  • The candidates years of experience and professional accomplishments will be commensurate with the rank sought. Associate and Full professor candidates must possess experience and scholarly credentials that meet the tenure standards of the UW-Madison Divisional Committee and of the College of Engineering.

Education:

  • PhD in Nuclear Engineering Physics - or a closely related field by start date.
