The Safety Advisor on the Alkimos project is responsible for ensuring the safety and compliance of the Alkimos project. This role involves conducting risk assessments enforcing safety protocols investigating incidents and providing training to night shift workers. The Advisor works closely with the Construction Civil teams to maintain a safe working environment and ensure adherence to all relevant safety regulations.

The Project
The project includes the design construction operation and maintenance of the plant with first production in 2028. Works include marine works and tunnels seawater intake system a seawater reverse osmosis desalination plant groundwater system drinking water storage and pump system supported by civil electrical and bulk earthworks.

Responsibilities

  • Implement effective auditing strategies and simplify safety systems to align with evolving organizational structures and risk profiles.
  • Continuously improve WHS/OHS practices by embedding innovative methods that enhance operational efficiency and performance.
  • Conduct regular risk reviews analyze data trends and prioritize risks based on impact and probability to strengthen organizational resilience.
  • Use scenario-based analysis to manage crises and recommend improvements through systematic data evaluation.
  • Identify legal documentation for incident defense perform cost impact analysis and monitor key safety metrics like TRIFR and LTIFR.
  • Promote healthy lifestyle choices support mental health and foster collaborative relationships with contractors.
  • Respond to workplace changes by updating safety management systems and risk control strategies accordingly.
  • Maintain strategic oversight advocate for inclusivity and lead change by setting clear goals and modeling visionary behavior.

    Required Skills and Competencies

    • Implementing and simplifying WHS/OHS systems aligned with organizational changes
    • Investigating incidents and preparing documentation for legal and business impact analysis
    • Promoting mental health and wellbeing and fostering collaborative relationships with contractors

    Required Experience

    • Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (or equivalent) White Card First Aid & CPR and training in incident investigation (e.g. ICAM or TapRooT) and internal auditing (e.g. ISO 45001)
    • Demonstrated experience in risk assessment and scenario-based risk management
    • Proven track record in implementing and evolving WHS/OHS systems in complex project environments
    • Strong background in incident investigation legal documentation and assessing business impact
    • Experience promoting health and wellbeing initiatives including mental health monitoring and contractor engagement
