QE Lab Test Tech and Fiber Splicer

The QE Lab Test Technician and Fiber Splicer will setup and perform testing on fiber optic cables accessories and connectivity/apparatus products. The testing will include mechanical environmental and optical performance testing to industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Setup testing in accordance with industry standards
• Perform testing in accordance with established test procedures
• Record test results in test documentation and perform additional data analysis where required
• Report results and any observations to co-workers managers and engineering as required
• Work on multiple product lines and have flexibility in work schedule and test diversity
• Participate on continuous improvements teams to achieve the highest level of test efficiency
• Interact with and support for the engineering staff as required

• Adhere to and promote the environmental health & safety policies of AFL

Qualifications

• Previous work background in fiber optics is ideal along with any type of technical background
• Fiber optic testing experience is preferred
• Fiber splicing experience is preferred
• Basic computer skills including Microsoft Outlook Word and Excel

Working Conditions

• Manufacturing floor
• This position requires good manual dexterity good vision and the ability to stay seated for long periods of time

Business Requirements

• Test & Inspection
  • In lieu of certifications must have 1 year of work experience technical manufacturing environment preferred
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings datasheets and written work instruction
  • Obtain at least 2 QE Lab certifications (options include environmental testing mechanical testing OCA mechanical testing Cable optical testing cable optical testing OCA WDM testing and materials testing)
  • Complete FO123 basic fiber optic training course
