Job Summary

Position Overview

WWF-Namibia is establishing an Integrated Information and Knowledge Management Unit to strengthen conservation impact monitoring and knowledge sharing across landscapes including the Kavango-Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area (KAZA TFCA). The Knowledge Management Coordinator will lead the development and implementation of integrated systems to monitor long-term conservation and socio-economic impacts leveraging spatial data and advanced technologies.

This role is central to transforming data into actionable intelligence that supports evidence-based decision-making adaptive management and strategic planning. The coordinator will ensure that conservation efforts are measurable transparent and responsive to emerging challenges by aligning monitoring systems with WWF Roadmap 2030 indicators donor requirements and national and global reporting frameworks

The coordinator will also play a key role in modernizing legacy systems such as the Conservancy Information System (ConInfo) consolidating fragmented data from diverse stakeholders and facilitating knowledge exchange across projects and institutions. Through this work WWF-Namibia and its partners will be empowered to maximize conservation impact improve resource efficiency and sustain positive outcomes for biodiversity and communities.

Main Functions

  1. Knowledge Management
    • Lead the establishment of a centralized integrated information and knowledge management system within WWF-Namibias Community Conservation and Inspiration Hub serving as a repository for conservation data and insights.
    • Modernize legacy systems such as the Conservancy Information System (ConInfo) transitioning to spatially enabled platforms that support dynamic data visualization and analysis.
    • Consolidate fragmented data from key stakeholders including MEFT NACSO NGOs communities and researchers ensuring interoperability and accessibility.
    • Promote a culture of learning and collaboration by facilitating knowledge exchange across teams landscapes and institutions.
    • Support the NACSO Training Institute by designing and delivering capacity-building initiatives focused on data collection management and the use of emerging technologies for environmental monitoring.
  2. Impact Tracking and Strategic Learning
    • Design and implement robust performance frameworks for conservation initiatives integrating ecological socio-economic and spatial indicators that reflect both local realities and global conservation priorities.
    • Provide strategic oversight and guidance on project reporting ensuring alignment with donor expectations WWF Roadmap 2030 indicators and long-term impact measurement during proposal development and implementation.
    • Develop and operationalize platforms for long-term impact analysis leveraging tools such as SMART EarthRanger AI-enabled camera traps eDNA and acoustic sensors to enhance data collection and interpretation.
    • Ensure data systems are aligned with WWF Roadmap 2030 indicators donor-specific requirements and national reporting frameworks to support consistent and credible impact tracking.
    • Coordinate and harmonize data collection validation and synthesis across diverse projects and landscapes including the Kavango-Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area (KAZA TFCA).
    • Facilitate periodic impact reviews and strategic assessments to generate insights that inform adaptive management enhance project effectiveness and guide decision-making.
  3. Reporting & Communication
    • Produce timely accurate and high-quality reports for internal use donors and national/global platforms demonstrating conservation impact and accountability.
    • Develop interactive dashboards and visualization tools that translate complex data into accessible formats for decision-makers partners and communities.
    • Ensure reporting processes are aligned with donor contracts strategic frameworks and WWFs global standards enabling transparent and consistent communication of results.
    • Engage with national and international stakeholders to harmonize reporting standards share lessons learned and contribute to global conservation knowledge.
  4. Support project management
    • Promote the effective use of by advocating best practices supporting adoption and ensuring alignment with organizational workflows.
    • Assist teams in creating and maintaining project boards timelines and workflows ensuring consistency in tracking reporting and documentation.
    • Use to monitor project progress flag issues and generate reports aligned with organizational KPIs to support decision-making and performance tracking.
  5. Strategic Contributions
    • Support the establishment of a Centre of Excellence in data collection monitoring and knowledge management within WWF-Namibia.
    • Contribute to strategic planning policy development and program design through the provision of evidence-based insights and scenario analyses.
    • Promote efficient resource allocation by enabling impact-per-dollar analysis and identifying high-leverage interventions.
    • Strengthen WWF-Namibias capacity to anticipate and respond to emerging conservation challenges through integrated data-driven decision-making.

Qualifications :

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience

    • Advanced degree in environmental science conservation development studies data science or a related field.
    • Minimum five (5) years of experience in M&E and/or knowledge management within conservation or development sectors.
    • Strong data management and analysis visualization and reporting skills.
    • Proven experience in designing and implementing complex databases and monitoring systems including spatial data integration and data interpretation tools.
    • Familiarity with Namibias CBNRM and large landscape conservation approaches.
    • Experience with GIS spatial platforms and conservation technologies is highly desirable.

Skills and Abilities

    • Strategic thinker with a strong commitment to conservation impact and sustainable development.
    • Excellent analytical organizational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
    • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement abilities including the capacity to translate complex data into actionable insights.
    • Demonstrated leadership and initiative with a proactive and results-oriented approach to decision-making.
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and across diverse landscapes.
    • Proficient in standard computer applications and data management tools; experience with GIS and data visualization platforms is an asset.
    • Ability to quickly learn and navigate new software platforms and digital tools while staying informed about emerging technologies relevant to knowledge management collaboration and data systems.
    • Valid drivers license and willingness to travel to field sites as needed.
