DIA has come through a significant period of change and we are seeking an experienced and values-driven leader to support the Director Strategy Governance and Risk alongside the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) to lead the department in charting its long-term direction identifying the value the department adds and accounting for its performance.
This role calls for a strategic collaborative leader who handles complexity confidently and motivates teams to deliver results.
The core of this role is to lead a team of motivated kaimahi and refine processes to improve efficiency and service delivery. The Manager Strategy and Governance is responsible for providing strategic oversight across Te Taris planning performance accountability and governance work programmes to ensure delivery of core government requirements.
Embedding Ā Mātou Mahi and supporting the Director to embed the corporate strategy across the organisation is a key focus alongside working closely with ELT and Committee chairs to manage governance processes and ensure compliance with Audit NZ requirements.
Maintaining strong relationships across a range of stakeholders including Central Agencies Audit NZ Ministers Offices and internally with SLC and Branch Directors is critical to ensuring delivery of the work programme and high-quality outputs.
The key skills and capabilities required for this position include:
- Experience leading governance functions in a large and complex organisation.
- Strong leadership experience including coaching mentoring and growing capability.
- Experience in the development and implementation of innovative organisational wide strategies.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to align governance practices with business objectives.
- Excellent communicator able to influence and engage at all levels.
- Confidence working with a wide range of stakeholders including senior leaders and providing expert advice.
- Proactive organized and outcomes focused.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Confidential security clearance
- Tertiary qualification in public policy business management or equivalent experience.
