INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY
Job Title: Quality Technician Intern
Reports To: Lab Working Supervisor
Location: New Mexico East
OVERVIEW
A Quality Technician performs a variety of routine laboratory analysis of process and product samples. Duties usually consist of taking samples performing several routine quantitative and qualitative or analytical tests according to Intrepids standard procedures.
Corporate housing in Carlsbad NM will be provided for the Intrepid internship program.
JOB DUTIES
- Learn process to understand where and when to collect samples.
- Correct preparation of samples.
- Utilizes approved analytical methods available for each sample.
- Completes report forms in Excel and other databases.
- Reports results of analyses to Plant Operations.
- Familiar with non-routine sample preparation as well as correct sample log-in procedures.
- Ensure proper instrument care and maintenance.
- Proficient in major instrumentation (XRD XRF or PSA).
- Demonstrates proficiency in flame photometry.
- Completes daily sample reports.
- Communicates with day shift technicians to ensure sample continuity.
- Perform other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid Drivers License
- High school diploma or GED
- Actively pursuing a degree in science degree such as Chemistry
- One to two years related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite PC software
SCHEDULE AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
9/80 schedule Monday - Thursday 9-hour workdays Fridays worked 8-hour workday with every other Friday off. Schedule subject to change.
- Combination of outdoors in a non-temperature controlled environment and subject to weather conditions andin an indoor temperature-controlled office environment
- Exposed to loud sounds and distracting noise levels
Employees are required to wear safety attire and personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Standing walking using hands reaching with hands climbing and stooping up to 2/3 of the time
- Must be able to lift and push and/or pull up to 50 lbs. lifting will be required up to 1/3 of the time
- Must be able to climb and descend vertical ladders and stairs
- The environment may consist of moving mechanical parts and high/precarious places
- Must be able to perceive color differences
- Will be required to wear personal protective equipment as needed
A pre-placement physical and hair follicle drug test will be required for anyone selected for this opportunity. Placement into the position will not be made until the results are received and cleared by Intrepid.
