Your Opportunity

One Permanent Full Time Position.

Capital Power is seeking an experienced Trade Control Specialist to join our Commodity Risk Management this critical Middle Office role you will ensure the integrity accuracy and compliance of daily trading operations. Youll oversee deal validation and confirmations maintain compliance and exception reporting and verify key data for settlement and risk purposes.

This position also develops and executes robust trading and risk controls supports audit inquiries and ensures all trading activities align with risk policies delegated authorities and internal limits. Additionally youll ensure accurate deal capture in the ETRM system and configure workflows to support validations confirmations amendments and settlements.

You will contribute to our team by:

  • Oversee the daily new deal checkout process and validate transaction accuracy in the ETRM system.

  • Confirm bilateral transactions and review incoming confirmations for discrepancies against ETRM records.

  • Prepare and send trade confirmations to counterparties promptly.

  • Maintain a centralized audit log to track late deal entries amendments missing price data and other data management requirements supporting trade compliance exception reporting.

  • Produce internal trade compliance exception reports to ensure visibility and transparency of process and control effectiveness.

  • Source and validate actual data for settlement and invoicing purposes; perform periodic independent validation of calculations and data used for risk reporting and quantification.

  • Develop maintain and execute Middle Office and Risk controls.

  • Support internal and external audit inquiries related to trading hedging and risk management activities.

  • Ensure all strategies and transactions comply with risk policy delegation of authority and internal limits.

  • Verify that proposed and existing deals are accurately captured in the ETRM system and workflows are configured to support validations confirmations amendments and settlements.

What you will bring to the role:

Education:

  • Post-secondary education related to auditing business economics finance and/or risk management; related experience or education may be considered as an equivalent.

  • Professional designation in a related field an asset (e.g. PRM FRM ERP CFA).

Experience:

  • 2 years of trade control operations or middle office roles within trading commodities or financial services.

  • Experience with deal validation confirmations exception reporting and compliance.

  • Exposure to ETRM systems and supporting audit inquiries.

Technical Skills:

  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel and Office Suite.

  • Intermediate ETRM system and SQL proficiency.

  • Data validation for settlement invoicing and risk quantification.

  • Basic understanding of markets commodities and trading concepts.

  • High attention to detail and accuracy in transaction validation.

  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.

  • Effective communication for confirmations and audit support.

  • Professionalism reliability and ability to work collaboratively.

  • Ability to identify and resolve discrepancies and exceptions.

Working Conditions:

  • Hybrid Office/Work from home position with possible very minimal travel to meet business users at Capital Power facilities or other offices.

Clearance of Credit check is required for this position.
