SUMMARY Runs an efficient and profitable service department through productive staffing customer retention cost controls achievement of objectives and maintenance of all service records. Ensures that the daily inventory of technicians time is consistently sold to service customers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES -
Forecasts goals and objectives for the department and strives to meet them.

Hires trains motivates counsels and monitors performance of all service staff.

Prepares and administers an annual operating budget for the service department.

Maintains reporting systems required by management and the factory.
-
Attends manager meetings.
-
Monitors and controls departmental performance using reports tracking systems and surveys.
-
Promotes harmony and teamwork within and across departments.
-
Develops and implements marketing plans promoting new and repeat business.
-
Ensures compliance with all federal state and local regulations (OSHA hazardous waste etc.).
-
Oversees manufacturer warranty and policy procedures.
-
Holds weekly department meetings.
-
Directs and schedules activities of all department employees.
-
Conducts and facilitates technical training; sends employees to training schools as needed.
-
Monitors technicians productivity and payroll.
-
Coordinates parts orders with the parts manager to ensure availability.
-
Reviews and initials all repair orders before warranty submission.
-
Builds and maintains relationships with customers to encourage repeat and referral business.
-
Ensures quality repairs through spot checks of completed work.
-
Keeps work areas and waiting areas clean and professional.
-
Builds recruitment relationships with vocational and technical schools.
-
Serves as liaison with factory representatives.
-
Maintains inventory and care of special tools.
-
Keeps customer service files current and accessible.
-
Greets customers promptly; provides accurate estimates and repair times.
-
Handles customer complaints per dealership policy.
-
Follows up within 24 hours to confirm satisfaction with the service experience.
-
Maintains a safe work environment and professional appearance.
-
Performs other tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Strong leadership communication and organizational skills.

Proven record managing a successful service department.

Commitment to quality safety and customer satisfaction.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE CERTIFICATIONS / LICENSES -
ASE Certifications (Auto/Light Truck Medium/Heavy Truck or Collision Repair).

I-CAR Advanced Training Certificates.

State Vehicle Inspector and Emissions Certifications.
-
Valid Drivers License required.
