Job Summary

Senior Mechanical Engineer

Grove Design is a long-established Engineering Design Consultancy based in Herefordshire with strong skills in Mechanical and Electronic Engineering Product Design and Analysis.

We are seeking an experienced and innovative Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design analysis and development of complex mechanical systems and products. The successful candidate will take ownership of major projects mentor junior engineers and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality cost-effective and manufacturable solutions.

We need someone who:

Is probably degree qualified in an appropriate area (but proven capability/attitude is more important);

Has experience in leading the design and development of mechanical components assemblies and systems from concept through to production.

Is experienced in creating detailed 3D CAD models (SolidWorks) engineering drawings and technical documentation.

Can conduct and review engineering calculations and finite element analysis (FEA) for strength thermal and dynamic performance.

Can oversee and contribute to prototyping testing and validation of mechanical designs.

Will ensure designs comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements (e.g. EMC safety RoHS).

Can participate in and lead design reviews risk assessments and root cause analysis.

Can work with cross-functional teams (electrical software manufacturing QA) to ensure seamless product integration.

Can guide junior engineers and provide technical mentorship.

Can support continuous improvement in engineering standards processes and documentation.

Youll work on a variety of exciting projects. You will need to stay focused when the pressure is on (we do have deadlines). Youll get the chance to work with and learn from an inspiring team of engineers.

The studio and workshop are set in beautiful countryside. Within a few steps you can be strolling through pastures woodland and alongside the river Arrow (you might even see a kingfisher).
