JOB TITLE: Athletic Event Manager
CLASSIFICATION: Certified
SUPERVISOR: Building Principal or Athletic Director
CONTRACT: Athletic Season
GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES
The Athletic Event Manager under the supervision of the High School Athletic Director will manage athletic contests from start to finish which includes preparatory set-up prior to the event and breakdown at its conclusion. This person will direct the work of game management personnel during the event and problem solve any issues that arise with the end goal of a successful and safe experience for student athletes workers and spectators.
It is the intent of this job description to give sufficient guidance to case not specifically covered it shall be assumed that the staff member shall exercise common sense and good judgment.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
The Athletic Event Manager is responsible to the Principal or Athletic Director.
SUPERVISION GIVEN
The Athletic Event Manager assumes a supervisory role over student spectators and directs the activities/work of game management staff.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Make up cash boxes with bookkeeper
- Create rosters and signs for game
- Arrive one to two hours prior to game
- Hang signage in ticket booths and other locations as needed.
- Direct officials teams and workers to assigned areas
- Review duties with assigned workers (game management)
- Distribute programs
- Distribute handheld radios to on duty security/administration
- Monitor ticket booths and crowd-make sure lines are moving smoothly
- Assist ticket sellers counting money and closing booths.
- Assist concessions as needed
- Collect money from cash boxes and secure or hand over to the Athletic Director prior to the conclusion of the event.
- Remove all signs and programs from ticket booths and facility.
- Collect handheld radios from on duty workers
- Other duties as assigned
ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES
- Assists in the necessary preparation to hold scheduled athletic events and adheres to scheduled facility times.
- Supports proper safeguards for maintenance and protection of equipment and facilities.
STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES
- All employees of the Medford School District have responsibility of supervising students and assisting in maintaining a safe environment.
EQUIPMENT AND FACILITIES
- Works with custodial staff to ready the facility prior to the contest and ensures that all materials and equipment are secured and returned to proper locations in the facility at the conclusion of the contest.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this position successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required. MINIMUM SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge:
- Of rules and regulations of the sport to which assigned.
- Of fundamentals techniques and strategies of the sport to which assigned.
- Of safety factors involved in the sport assigned.
- Of physical ability and limitations of the level he/she is teaching.
- Of the Medford School District Athletic Policies and OSAA
Rules and Regulations.
- Skills:
- Must possess the ability to communicate effectively with
people.
- Must be able to demonstrate basic skills of sport to which assigned.
- Must have the ability to organize supervise and evaluate the total sport program.
- Attitudes:
- Must be positive.
- Should be enthusiastic.
- Should possess a willingness to cooperate and to adjust
to various situations.
- Experience:
- Previous coaching experience of sport to which assigned is preferred.
- Previous experience as participant of sport to which assigned preferred.
- Previous teaching experience preferred.
- Education:
- Valid Oregon teacher certification is preferred.
- College training in coaching desirable.
