SUMMARY OF ROLE

As part of a cross functionalteamthe LogisticsSpecialistwillcoordinateinbound/outbound shipments supportDrivesbusiness units with quoting and arranging spot shipmentsand strive tomaintainoptimisedtransportation costs.Specialist willbe responsible for prioritising tasks supportingexpected shippingschedulesand managing day to dayfreightactivities.

As aLogistics professional and part of theprocurement team thespecialistwill make a valuable contribution toDrivesand Nidecobjectivesapplyingbothcommercial and business acumendemonstratedby:

  • Significantly contributingto optimisecarriage costsforDrivesby ensuring preferred carriers are selected for use.

  • Providingfocused low risk and scalablelogisticalsolutionson an ad-hoc basis.

  • Measuring the performance of logistic activities;developing strategies to minimise risk tostakeholders.

  • Minimisingfreightdelays.

KEY JOBRESPONSIBILITIES:

Managefreightactivityat atactical level:

  • Planningmanagingand evaluatinglogistics operations.

  • Liaisingwith internal stakeholders suppliers logistics transportation companies.

  • Implement best practice logistics principlespoliciesand processes across the organisationtoimproveoperational and financial performance.

  • Manage actively and track daily freight exceptions while supporting internal stake-holder queries.

  • Ensure compliance with company policies procedures and agreed routing guide.

  • Monitor quality delivery times and transport costs.

  • Consolidate freightrelateddatathroughvarious reportsas required.

  • Contribute to all globalbid processes to ensure themostpreferentialcarriers are chosen for all modes of transport and for alldelivery routes both inbound and outbound.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and identify inefficiencies and cost optimisation opportunities.

  • Oversee inbound and outbound transport.

  • Additional duties as assigned.

Relationship Management

  • Develop and maintain strong partnerships withall Nidec logisticsdepartments otherDrivesdepartments and externally to ensure alignment and strong performance.

  • Collaborate and innovate cross functionally.

People Management

  • This role will not have direct reports in the short or medium term.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Education and Qualifications

Preferred

  • Bachelors degreeor equivalent.

  • Must have exceptional communication skills verbal and written.

LOGISTICS EXPERIENCE

  • Previousexperiencein a Supply Chain roleacrossstock management warehouse managementlogisticsand operational efficiencyconsidered an advantage.

  • 2-3 years oflogisticsexperiencein related positions preferred.

  • Experience with various modes of transportation and international freight.

  • Knowledge of internationalshipping regulations.

  • Basic knowledgeof the variouscustomsprocesses andprocedures.

  • Understandinganalysingandreportingon freight activity.

LANGUAGES

  • Fluent in English

  • Spanish beneficial
