Were looking for talented and motivated students to join our Streets team on an Industrial Placement where youll gain hands-on experience contribute to real projects and develop technical skills that will kick-start your career.
As part of our Streets & Technology group within AECOMs Transportation business line youll work alongside experienced engineers to design analyse and improve transport networks that support safe efficient and sustainable mobility.
What youll do:
Your placement will give you exposure to a variety of traffic engineering tasks which may include:
- Designing and modelling urban streets junctions and roundabouts using industry-standard software (e.g. Junctions LinSig VISSIM).
- Supporting traffic impact assessments and microsimulation modelling.
- Assisting with road safety audits and developing traffic management solutions.
- Analysing traffic data journey times and flows to inform design and planning.
- Contributing to active travel projects by designing walking cycling and public transport-friendly networks.
- Supporting feasibility studies and scheme appraisals for transport improvements.
- Preparing drawings reports and presentations to communicate findings to clients and stakeholders.
Qualifications :
- Are currently studying towards a degree in Civil Engineering Transportation/Traffic Engineering Highway Engineering or a related discipline.
- Are passionate about shaping the future of mobility and improving how people move within towns and cities.
- Have strong analytical and problem-solving skills with solid numeracy.
- Can work effectively as part of a team and communicate ideas clearly.
- Have good Microsoft Office skills (Excel Word PowerPoint).
- Are detail-oriented with excellent research and report writing skills.
- Are self-motivated enthusiastic and eager to learn new software and tools.
- Are eligible to work in the UK & Ireland for the duration of the placement.
