Job Description

The Opportunity

We are expanding our operations and strengthening our team within the safety space. As we grow our capabilities on current and upcoming major infrastructure projects we are looking for an experienced Health & Safety Manager to join us. This FIFO role delivering and working in our Pilbara operations provides an opportunity to lead a safety culture rooted in accountability and to support the growth and development of the wider team.

You will oversee the safe delivery of projects promote a robust safety culture and ensure adherence to all Safety requirements. We are especially looking for candidates with experience in Earthworks Structures and Mechanical & Electrical construction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with project leadership to promote behavioural safety and a positive safety culture
  • Build strong relationships with client representatives subcontractors and regulatory bodies to maintain compliance and collaboration
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives to reduce risk and improve operational safety outcomes
  • Recruit coach and mentor your safety team in technical skills leadership and engagement processes
  • Oversee contractor and supplier safety management including prequalification and performance monitoring.
  • Lead safety leadership programs and workforce engagement initiatives. Identify areas of improvement and efficiency in safety tools currently in use within the organisation.
  • Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of project safety management systems
  • Coordinate and conduct audits inspections and comprehensive risk assessments
  • Support and guide project teams in developing safe work procedures and proactive safety initiatives
  • Prepare and present detailed Safety performance reports to the Project Director and senior leadership
  • Investigate incidents identify root causes and drive the implementation of corrective and preventive actions
  • Facilitate safety training inductions and toolbox talks to enhance awareness and engagement

Required Skills and Competencies

About You

  • Tertiary qualification in Work Health & Safety (or equivalent)
  • Proven leadership experience in resource construction energy or heavy industry.
  • Experience during major facility construction and project development phases.
  • Lead Auditor qualification in WHS Management Systems
  • Experience in engaging with relevant local regulators
  • Strong understanding of WHS legislation WorkCover
  • Experienced in working to mining safety standards in the Pilbara region
  • Proven ability to influence collaborate and lead teams and stakeholders in a construction environment.
