Job Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to laboring patients and their families throughout the childbirth process.
- Assess and monitor maternal and fetal status during labor and delivery ensuring safety and efficacy.
- Administer medications and intravenous therapies as prescribed by the physician.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
- Educate patients and families about the labor and delivery process including pain management options and postpartum recovery.
- Perform emergency interventions as needed and participate in critical care management.
- Document patient information accurately and maintain compliance with medical and legal standards.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to a positive and safe working environment.
Essential Qualifications:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of South Carolina or ability to obtain licensure.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for effective patient and family interaction.
Desired Experience:
- Minimum of 1-2 years of nursing experience in Labor & Delivery or a similar high-acuity patient care setting preferred.
- Experience with fetal monitoring and labor management techniques.
- Exposure to electronic medical records (EMR) and other healthcare technologies is a plus.
