POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant Controller is a key member of the finance team responsible for supporting the Controller in managing the companys accounting operations and financial reporting.
The Assistant Controller will lead initiatives to document and enhance accounting policies processes and procedures to ensure efficiency consistency and scalability across the organization.
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated person to support financial management and ensure compliance with accounting standards. The successful candidate will excel in extracting strategic insights from complex data guiding decision-making and supporting our core values.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Support the Controller in overseeing daily accounting operations including reconciliations accounts payable accounts receivable general ledger accounting fixed assets and expense management
Manage reconcile and review general ledger accounts ensuring accuracy and integrity of the financial records
Analyze financial data to identify trends discrepancies and areas for improvement contributing to effective financial management and planning
Develop document and maintain accounting policies procedures and internal controls to strengthen compliance and operational efficiency
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accuracy timeliness and scalability of financial reporting
Assist in budget preparation forecasting and variance analysis to support management decision-making
Manages and complies with local state and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
Serves as a liaison to external auditors providing documentation and responding to inquiries
Perform special projects financial analysis and ad-hoc reporting as assigned
May exercise supervisory authority of at least 2.0 FTE or equivalent employees
Accounting
Bachelors degree in accounting finance or a business-related field
A minimum of 5 or more years of progressively responsible experience in accounting or financial management
Strong knowledge of GAAP internal controls and financial reporting
A high level of integrity trustworthiness and meticulous attention to detail is paramount
Adaptable communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple departments
Proficient with data analysis critical thinking and problem-solving skills for data-driven decision making
Impactful customer service skills with proven ability to support internal teams and external partners
Demonstrated success in managing supporting and motivating staff
Sets priorities and manages workflow to ensure efficient timely and accurate processing of transactions and other responsibilities
Self-starter with excellent organizational skills a can-do attitude and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS) automated accounting system processes operations and reporting principles
